Oops, I just realized that we posted the pictures of our trip but never told you about it. Thus, may I present you the story behind the pictures!
It has always been a dream of ours to take advantage of our stay in Canada and explore the North American continent outside Three Hills. Thus, in the spring of 2009 we actively started looking for a tent trailer. We were hoping for such amenities as a fridge, stove, storage but also the flexibility of a small trailer, which we could leave at the camp ground when undertaking trips to the surrounding area.
The perfect object was found astonishingly fast and additionally to the desired layout we also got a port-a-potty and an add-a-room, which would give us additional space. The deal was quickly closed and we started planning our trip with a trial run to a nearby campground.
We then left on June 23 for Vancouver Island, where among other things we marvelled at the captivating beauty of the Pacific Rim National Park.
After filling in a pagelong questionnaire, leaving our fingerprints with the authorities and having our picture taken, the Americans let us board the ferry to Port Angeles (Washington). In Olympic National Park we met with some friends from Switzerland and joined in the 4th-of-July celebrations.
Our journey led us along the Pacific coast south through the states of Oregon and California to San Francisco.
Leaving foggy and chilly San Francisco behind, we headed for the interior. Yosemite National Park welcomed us with the long yearned for warmth. This was only the beginning, however. What heat really feels like, we started to experience in the vastness of the Sierra Nevada.
Salt Lake City's Temple Square impressed us with its astounding architecture, but the real gem is Antelope Island, the biggest Island in the Great Salt Lake (Utah). The tranquility and ever changing clouds and colours became our oasis in the middle of the restlessness of our journey.
Visiting Yellowstone National Park (altitude 7550ft) saw us back in cooler temperatures and finally we concluded our trip with a couple of comfortably warm days spent in Glacier National Park, also known as the International Peace Park.
In aviation "enroute" is the phase between take-off and landing. To prevent traffic conflicts pilots make regular position reports over the radio. This blog has the same goal: a position report in regards to where-we're-at and where-we're-going on our flight with Mission Aviation Fellowship.

Packing up...
Our time in Three Hills is coming to an end. We are leaving Canada on December 21, heading for Switzerland.
We have come here five years ago with a purpose – to prepare ourselves for full-time ministry with Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF). After graduation we stayed on because Markus got the opportunity to build up his flight hours by working as an instructor for PSMA. In the meantime we got the different assessments for the application with MAF done. Markus has now reached the 1000-hour mark, and passed his technical flight evaluation with MAF. So, it’s time for us to move on and get the remaining interviews with MAF Switzerland done. We hope to get officially accepted with MAF Switzerland by February 2010. Once accepted, we will be able to start raising support.
These were the facts. The emotional side of it is that we will once again have to leave dear friends and - believe me - that takes a lot of energy.
In Switzerland we were able to rent a 3 bedroom apartment already. However, I'm still looking for a job. The plan is that Markus will stay home with the kids and set up and organize our speaking engagements.
As you can see, we are about to do a step of faith and we sure appreciate your prayers!
